Venus

Venus is the name of a goddess of beauty 23,000 years younger than a tiny limestone carving with the same name found in Austria. The Venus of Willendorf. Some say this carving may have been a self portrait. If they had a name, we will never know it.

I think about this figurine a lot.

It was very strange when I saw it for the first time. It was like looking into a 30 thousand year-old mirror. I did not like having my image reflected back at me with a name neither I, nor the figurine, recognized as ours.
